Did this year's budget shortfall include the teacher raises that we didn't get because we didn't reach the needed student numbers?
Jason Farr
54:19
Do you have a breakdown of the payroll figures according to employee classifications?
Jason Farr
55:04
Thank you
Kelli Geen

Will you look at increasing pay for those of us who have been with the district for a long time? It seems like the longer we have taught the less competitive our pay is.
Kelli Geen
01:03:51
2% of the midpoint actually penalizes those of us at the higher end of the scale. Why isn't it 2% of the actual salary?
Claudia Sandoval-Sosa
01:05:17
The work that TAs put in is quite substantial. There are some situations where they are in charge of paperwork, health care, and mental health care needs of students. Their pay does not reflect the work they put in, particularly on special campuses. Is that an area that's being looked at for an increase?
Lindsey Shirack
01:05:17
When I’ve taught 7 of 8 previously, I’ve made 17% more for the work I’ve done (an extra 1/6th). 2% (or less) just devalues our work. This is looking at 20% more work with 40% less time for a 2% raise?
Christy Loya
01:07:00
When Ms. Stephens mentions how salaries will change/increase for teacher does this include teaching librarians?
Kelli Geen
01:07:18
Will pre-k staffing have waivers in place next year as we have had this year? 22 is too many. More than 22 just isn't working in the best interest of our youngest learners.
Travis Horne
01:08:16
Sorry for being late- is there any discussion about increasing teacher sick days in light of covid? Teachers used to get 6 paid sick days and that was cut back to 4 in 2011.
Claudia Sandoval-Sosa
01:10:35
The work that TAs put in can be quite substantial. Their pay does not reflect the work they put in, particularly on special campuses. Is that something that is being looked at?
Travis Horne
01:11:18
We do not get 5
Travis Horne
01:11:23
That is not true.
Travis Horne
01:11:37
We get 5 state days
Travis Horne
01:11:40
4 sick
Travis Horne
01:12:04
I wish we did.
Kelby Stark
01:12:59
We shouldn’t have to donate a day for Covid. If we get Covid from exposure at school we should not have to use our days for that. Teaching in a pandemic is hard enough without worrying about our days if we get sick from our students.
Claudia Sandoval-Sosa
01:14:00
Is there a stipend/incentive for TAs who are bilingual and use that as part of their job?
Travis Horne
01:15:01
The district has had no conversations of raising sick days, then? Got it. Thank you.
Kelli Geen
01:15:42
When we added the pre-k TA's we were told the state recommended a 1:11 ratio in pre-k and that is why the district took our class size to 22. Is that not correct? Also what would the maximum amount of pre-k students in one class be? Is there a limit? Our TA's are AMAZING but the buck stops with the classroom teacher when it comes to grades, conferences, assessments, planning etc.
Lindsey Shirack
01:16:25
Elementary should have time to plan. Taking away planning time for high schools does not fix that. Per a study today on NPR, “55% of teachers say they will leave teaching sooner than they had originally planned.” That feels accurate for my campus - there’s no need to force out teachers by going 7 of 8 when so many teachers are going to leave. What does the district intend to do about the national teaching crisis that’s looming?
Kelli Geen
01:18:33
So is there a limit to the number of students in a pre-k class? Not the recommendation but will AISD commit to a number that they won't go above?
Sharon Sibert
01:21:45
Are these 2% midpoint raises and $1,000 being purposed, truly going to happen. We were told this year that if we had a specific student enrollment, we would receive a 2% raise. If we didn't meet the enrollment, we would get a 1% raise, but that never happened.
Lindsey Shirack
01:23:02
The early release options for this spring were not popular with parents, according to the district. Hard to believe they would be popular if they happen weekly next year. I’m in favor of more time for elementary, but how is the district adjusting based on that feedback?
Kelli Geen
01:24:39
Will you consider allowing pre-k students to attend special areas next year? Asking our TA's to manage the whole class alone, for that 45 minute period, hasn't been very productive and can be unsafe.

Please feel free to continue to share questions in the chat. We will go a couple minutes over, since we started a couple minutes late, and we will also review the chat and respond to any unanswered questions.

Kelli-At this time, we are not incorporating PK in the essential areas based on the needs and complex schedule in K-5 or 6. I can ask Early Childhood to provide some professional development or focus on this area for next year.
Travis Horne
01:28:31
I missed it if it was answered earlier (also had connectivity issues): have campuses been given a budget that mandates through funding (or lack thereof) 7/8 schedule for teachers?
Sharon Sibert
01:28:55
Pre-K students are extremely needy. They need a lot of 1 on 1 help and nearly all assessments are also 1 on 1. The time we spend assessing them, takes away from being able to help these large classes with their individual needs. There are also many times a day were it is a 1:23 ration, when TA's are providing teacher planning, and also when teachers are alone as TA's take their lunch, 2 breaks, and put up all of the lunch shields. This is not safe for these little ones.

I had some connectivity issues as well, is this going to be posted so we can listen to the parts we missed?

I appreciate you all taking the time to answer my many questions. We don't have this opportunity often. Thank you!
